WW1 German Iron Cross Souvenir/Memento Metal Box

Description

This is a fine, vintage, period made/used patriotic metal box emblazoned with an oversized German Empire’s 1914 Iron Cross (
Eisernes Kreuz
) 1st Class.
The box itself measures 3.5”x4.75”x 2 and 1/8th inches high.
The oversized cross on the box’s top looks correct as far as its feature are concerned however, its dimensions are slightly larger measuring
2 1/8" x 2 1/8" making it slightly larger than a standard Iron Cross. The box is very well made and in excellent condition.
This box could have been used for anything from souvenirs to cigarettes or simply somewhere to keep the awards earned during the war.
