THE MODEL HAS A BLIND BLADE BUT SUITABLE FOR SHARPENING
In 871, Young Prince Alfred, later known as Alfred the Great, bravely commanded King Ethelred of Wessex's army in a glorious victory against a major Danish army invasion. This sword represents the main weapon used in this decisive battle. Toledo armorers forged this sword from high carbon steel. The full, very wide blade makes the blade light and deadly. The guard was richly engraved in the form of knots. The guard and the pommel are made of steel and have been slightly darkened. Soft, leather edging the wooden crimped handle. Complete with a period leather scabbard with a very decorative bottom fitting.
