Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This is a superbly detailed re-creation of one of history's most spectacular and historic ceremonial swords. This is a replica of the sword that celebrated the discovery of America and was used by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain to knight Christopher Columbus after his voyage to the New World in 1492. The original is a priceless treasury of the royal Armory in Madrid.
The sword was crafted of tempered steel in Toledo, Spain, the worldwide center of the swordsmith's art. The sword is decorated with 24 karat gold electroplate, and rich with velvet and gold ornamentation. Embellishments with heraldic designs tell of Spanish Kings and Queens throughout the centuries.
The wall display designed to showcase the sword has an etched brass nameplate identifying The Columbus Sword. A brass plaque at its tip portrays Columbus and Isabella (pictured). The sword is 48" from blade tip to pommel.
The tip guard was inadvertently split when it was replaced, as pictured.
The sword is protected with and invisible coating that permits you to wipe fingerprints or smudges away.
