As a native Louisvillian, Sarah Frederick has worked in clay for over 35 years. She received her BFA degree from Mills College in California, and her Master’s degree from the University of Louisville.
Sarah works with ease in a variety of clays and her forte is color, design, and sculptural forms. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s Sarah ran a highly successful production studio that created a line of colorful and functional pottery which she designed and sold throughout the nation.
Sarah is nationally known and respected and her work is published in numerous books and magazines such as Ceramics Monthly, Studio Potter, and American Craft. Now retired, Sarah continues to create works for exhibitions and select clients. Over the years, Sarah has mentored and trained many young potters throughout the region and was resident potter at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT in 1991.
